I have always had a passion for art and design at an early age, and recently left a 10+ year career in project management and operational planning for large-scale international sporting events, including various Olympic Games, to pursue a career in art and design. I graduated with a degree in Business Management in 2008 from Thompson Rivers University in British Columbia Canada. I also completed my Design Communication Arts Certificate with UCLA Extension in 2017, and I am now based in Costa Mesa, California where I run my own home studio.
My medium of choice is working with acrylic paint on canvas. I love to explore the conflicts between sexuality, religion and acceptance through both modern and classical themes. I often play with a mixture of styles and influences, such as the street art you would find in the alleyways of Shoreditch, East London, and the Baroque style of portrait paintings found hanging in the Louvre. Through an acrylic medium, I am able to emulate the textures, worn surfaces and visual grit found in street art. This style taps into a metaphor reflecting the perseverance of beauty in the LGBTQ+ experience, despite the elements intent on tearing it down.
I am always creating, whether through my own artwork, or finding inspiration from other designers and artists. I bring a strong attention to detail, and a fresh and creative perspective to my design projects. I approach design like I do events, namely finding the synergies with limited resources to add value. Specifically, I like to problem solve within the space of 'less is more', using fewer design elements that work together in a powerful way to add value and communicate a message. My strength is in working with others in a collaborative fashion to ensure we hit on all the core messages your brand represents in a visually compelling and memorable way.
