This is the first of a 2-panel piece that reimagines Michelangelo’s The Creation of Adam. The reinvention of Adam as a gay slut is embracing, instead of punishing, our proclivity towards the ‘original sin’ as God intended it. Queer sex, identity and the existence of the LGBTQIA+ community is God, just as God is every other diverse experience and identity. All of us are connected as one, in complete love and joy.

This piece aims to recognize the heroism of the queer generation that came before us and fought for change, the acknowledgment of the AIDS crisis, and the civil rights we get to enjoy today. This piece uses a bit of levity to play on the devotional nature of religious baroque paintings that emulate an ascension to sainthood. The main subject, a relic of queer justice past, is ordained by God to sainthood while sipping wine by his pool in Palm Springs.

This piece taps into queer identity as personal power. Societal elements may try to tear down gay culture and experience, but we stand strong in our own power and identity with love and beauty shining through. A play on the Superman trope is used to poke fun at the idea that one need only remove their glasses to reveal their inner superhero.

This piece explores themes of sexual liberation and oppression. Through the lens of ancient Rome, a solider and persecuted Christian Gladiator, denoted by his staurogram (cross), are depicted in a courageous intimate embrace. Irony can be found in the role-reversal of the persecuted becoming the modern-day persecutor. However, love will always transcend hate.
